King County leads the Washington per diem for FY2027 at $255 a night in October, June, July, August and September and $188 from November to May, with $92 of M&IE. October is new in that top band: in FY2026 Seattle paid its peak only in June, July, August and September. Clallam and Jefferson counties, the Port Angeles and Port Townsend area, stretched their summer from two months to four and now reach $252. Every listed area sits at $80 of M&IE or more, against $68 in counties such as Yakima, Whatcom and Kitsap, where lodging is the standard $113. Taking the FY2027 table, three nights in Seattle from October 12 to October 15, 2026 total $1,087 at the federal maximum; the same stay a year earlier under FY2026 rates was $886. Travel days count at 75% of the daily M&IE.
Washington's own gasoline series
EIA prices Washington on its own weekly series, and in the week of October 5, 2026 regular averaged $5.424 a gallon, $1.070 above the U.S. figure of $4.354. At 30 miles per gallon that is $0.181 of fuel per mile, or 24% of the IRS business rate of 76 cents. A company paying a flat allowance set for the national average leaves a Washington driver short by $0.036 a mile before tires, insurance or depreciation. Diesel follows the West Coast (PADD 5) Except California series at $6.490.

Seattle's peak now ends in October
The King County schedule has two levels: $255 in October, June, July, August and September, $188 in November, December, January, February, March, April and May. October 2026 opened at the upper level, $67 above where October 2025 stood, so fall trips booked on last year's figures under-claim. The summer cap itself rose $7; the low months did not move. Tacoma, in Pierce County, keeps a flat $143.

Port Angeles, Olympia and Ocean Shores
Clallam and Jefferson counties went from $235 in July and August to $252 in June, July, August and September, while the off season slipped from $137 to $131. Thurston County (Olympia, Tumwater) collapsed a three-level FY2026 calendar into two: $176 in June, July and August, $149 otherwise. Grays Harbor County, Ocean Shores, lifted its floor from $110 to $136. Spokane is the only area with exactly the same $126 cap as last year. Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania counties, the Vancouver area, pay $161 with $86 of M&IE. Bellingham, Yakima, Bremerton, Wenatchee and Walla Walla are in counties GSA does not list, according to the Census file behind the search, so they take $113.
North of Seattle, Snohomish County (Everett, Lynnwood) is a separate area at $120 most of the year and $147 in June, July and August, so a hotel there in July allows $108 less than one in King County. Benton and Franklin counties, the Richland and Pasco area, hold $136 all year with $86 of M&IE. The road trip cost calculator uses the Washington gasoline series by default.
