New Mexico has 4 GSA per diem areas in FY2027, and the biggest change is in Bernalillo County. Albuquerque now caps lodging at $208 from October through March and $154 from April through September, against a single $144 last year, with $80 of M&IE. Santa Fe ranges from $129 to $175, Carlsbad (Eddy County) holds $164 and Taos $128. Every other county uses $113 and $68. Three nights in Albuquerque from January 18 to 21, 2027 are worth $904.00 at the federal maximum, and the same stay from April 19 to 22, 2027 is worth $742.00. All FY2027 values run from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027. Pick another New Mexico city or ZIP code in the calculator above to switch areas.
Bernalillo County gets an October-to-March premium
Until September 30, 2026, a federal traveler in Albuquerque could book up to $144 in any month. The FY2027 file replaces that flat figure with two: $208 for October, November, December, January, February and March, and $154 for the other six months. That is a $64 rise in the high months and still $10 more in the low ones, the largest move of any New Mexico line. The meal tier did not change: $80 a day. A project team that rotates people through Albuquerque all year should budget the two halves separately, since a week in February and a week in May now differ by $270 on five nights of lodging alone.

Rio Rancho is not part of it
Rio Rancho lies in Sandoval County, outside the Albuquerque line, so a stay there is paid at the standard $113. In October, that is $95 a night below a hotel inside Bernalillo County. The meal allowance falls too, from $80 to $68.
Santa Fe's dip falls in January and February
Santa Fe works on three levels: $175 in March, April, May, June, July, August, September and October, $148 in November and December, and its lowest $129 in January and February. So the two cities point in opposite directions in midwinter: in January Albuquerque pays $208 and Santa Fe $129. Both sit on the $80 M&IE tier.
Carlsbad and Taos, flat all year
Eddy County, listed as Carlsbad, pays $164 in every month, up from $155, with $74 of M&IE. Taos is the only New Mexico area whose lodging cap did not move at all between the two fiscal years: $128, also with $74. Las Cruces, Roswell, Farmington and the rest of the 11 larger Census places outside the four areas take the standard rate.
Gasoline for a New Mexico drive is priced with the EIA Gulf Coast average, $3.911 a gallon in the week of October 5, 2026, $0.443 below the U.S. average. At the IRS 76 cents a mile, the mileage reimbursement calculator shows how much of the rate is left after fuel.
