Ohio per diem for FY2027 is listed for 6 areas, with M&IE from $68 to $86 a day. Cincinnati (Hamilton and Clermont counties) caps lodging at $170 with $86 of M&IE, Cleveland at $167 with $80, Columbus at $138, all flat across the year. Sandusky (Erie County) is the one seasonal line: $174 in June, July and August, $127 from December to May and $120 in September, October and November. Toledo, Akron and the other unlisted counties take $113 and $68. A three-night trip to Cincinnati from May 10 to 13, 2027 adds up to $811.00 at the federal maximum, $510 for lodging and $301.00 for M&IE. These FY2027 rates apply from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027. The calculator above opens on Cincinnati; enter an Ohio city or ZIP code to switch.
Hamilton the area is not Hamilton County
Ohio's GSA file contains a trap. The line called Hamilton covers Butler and Warren counties, named after the city of Hamilton in Butler County, and pays $131 with $74 of M&IE. Hamilton County, where downtown Cincinnati sits, belongs to the Cincinnati line instead, at $170 and $86. A traveler who picks the area by name rather than by county can understate the claim by $39 a night and $12 a day. The ZIP search above avoids the mix-up.
Sandusky's summer jump
Erie County is the only Ohio line that changes with the month, and it runs on three levels in FY2027. Its peak in June, July and August went from $144 last year to $174, a rise of $30, while the off-season changed little. Yet the M&IE stays on the base $68 tier, so three nights there from July 12 to 15, 2027 total $760.00: more room than Cincinnati, fewer dollars for meals.

Cincinnati and Cleveland, $3 apart
The two dearest year-round caps are close on lodging, $170 and $167, but sit on different meal tiers: $86 for Hamilton and Clermont counties, $80 for Cuyahoga. Columbus (Franklin County) is $138, and Dayton with Fairborn, which spans Greene and Montgomery counties, is the lowest listed at $120, $7 above the standard. Of the 118 Ohio places above 15,000 people in the Census file, 63 lie outside every area, Toledo, Akron, Canton, Lorain and Youngstown included.
Ohio's own gasoline average
Buckeye drivers get a price of their own in the EIA survey, with no regional proxy. Regular averaged $3.829 a gallon in the week of October 5, 2026, $0.525 under the U.S. figure. For a 2026 Toyota Camry HEV FF LE rated at 51 mpg by the EPA, that is $0.075 of fuel per mile, a small slice of the IRS 76 cents. Diesel has no Ohio series and uses the Midwest figure.
