Summit County, the Park City area, pays the highest Utah per diem of FY2027: $499 a night in December, January, February and March and $227 in the other eight months, with $92 of M&IE. Moab, in Grand County, follows a calendar of its own, with its top $223 in October and September and a floor of $113 from November to February. Salt Lake and Tooele counties hold $152 all year and Utah County (Provo) $130; St. George, Ogden and Logan are on the standard $113 and $68. On the FY2027 table, three nights in Park City from January 18 to January 21, 2027 come to $1,819 at the federal maximum, against $1,003 for the same length of stay in May 2027. In each case the first and last day pay 75% of the M&IE, and lodging taxes are reimbursed on top.

Park City: four months at $499

The Summit County cap jumps from $227 to $499 on December 1 and stays there through March, then falls back. That is a ratio of 2.2 between the two levels, the steepest step in the state. Both levels moved up from FY2026, by $16 in winter and $6 for the rest of the year. A stay that starts in the last days of November and ends in December is priced at $227 for the first nights and $499 for the later ones; the calculator handles the split night by night.

Moab's year has four levels

Grand County does not follow the simple summer-winter pattern. October and September pay the most, $223. March, April, May and June pay $212. July and August drop to $165, and November, December, January and February to $113, which equals the standard lodging rate. So a July field visit to Moab allows $58 a night less than one in late September. The M&IE does not move: $86 every day.

One meals tier per area

Each Utah area lands in its own M&IE tier: Park City $92, Moab $86, Salt Lake City $80 and Provo $74. The standard $68 applies everywhere else. On a day with a provided lunch the deduction depends on that tier, $26 in Park City but $20 in Provo, which is why the M&IE breakdown matters for conference travel in the state. Provo gained the most of the flat-rate areas, $13 to $130; Salt Lake City added $10.

Outside the winter band the gap with Salt Lake City narrows. In July 2027 three nights in Park City total $1,003 and three in Salt Lake City $736, a difference of $267 that comes from $75 a night of lodging and $12 a day of M&IE.

Weber and Davis counties (Ogden, Layton, Bountiful), Washington County (St. George) and Cache County (Logan) are not listed, so the Census city file behind the search sends them to the standard rate. A trip to Ogden is therefore $39 a night below a Salt Lake City one. For driving, EIA's Rocky Mountain series priced regular at $4.417 a gallon in the week of October 5, 2026.

Questions travelers ask

What is the Park City, Utah per diem in January 2027?

$499 of lodging per night and $92 of M&IE per day. The winter cap runs from December, January, February and March in GSA's FY2027 table for Summit County. From April to November the room cap is $227. On the day you arrive and the day you leave, the M&IE is $69.00.

When is the Moab, Utah per diem highest in FY2027?

In October and September, at $223 a night. March, April, May and June pay $212, July and August $165, and November to February $113. M&IE in Grand County is $86 a day all year. The fiscal year runs from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027.

Do Ogden and St. George, Utah have their own per diem rates?

No. Weber County (Ogden) and Washington County (St. George) are not GSA non-standard areas in FY2027, so both take the standard $113 for lodging and $68 for M&IE. In Utah only Summit, Grand, Salt Lake, Tooele and Utah counties have higher rates, so a hotel in Layton or Cedar City is capped the same way.
